How long have you been designing kitchens for? How did you get into it?

5 Years in Kitchen Design and 5 years before that Interior Design. I studied Interior Design at university and pursued it as a career for the first part of my design journey, and then fell in love with kitchens, the idea that it is the heart of the house, and the space where people spend a lot of time and money on.

Who inspires you?

I'm inspired by life in general and the constant change and evolution of the spaces we inhabit. Our needs are changing year on year. As a designer I feel it’s important to factor this into my work. We are experiencing rapid social, technological and economical changes quicker than in previous years or generations and keeping on top of it is interesting and inspirational at the same time. I feel being a designer is never the same job year to year! Love it!

Top tip for designing?

Design the space for your own needs and style. A bit like above. Trends and styles quickly change today so it's important to live with what you love in that moment, rather than thinking too far ahead and being cautious with your choices. The likeliness of even a neutral safe kitchen appealing to another prospectus buyer is really unlikely. Live in the moment!

Unpopular opinion

You can ignore the working triangle! Every space is not the same shape or size, so design with the space and person in mind rather than an outdated ‘rule’.

I love working with customers who design with themselves in mind and want the kitchen to reflect their styles and personalities. Whether this is calm and natural or bright and fun. The main thing is experiencing the space just the way you love it. Seeing the designs come to life is so rewarding. Here are a few of my favourites...
