Meet the designer

After studying illustration and discovering a passion for interiors and joinery, kitchen design felt like a natural next step. Seven years on, I love helping customers create kitchens that reflect their style and suit their everyday life.

How long have you been designing kitchens for? How did you get into it?

I started designing kitchens in 2018 after studying an interior design diploma with KLC School of Design. I love the combination of creativity and technical detail that kitchen design embodies and find the way that kitchens transform people’s homes really exciting. I recently undertook a part time HNC in Building Studies which has developed my understanding of building and renovating properties.

Favourite kitchen trend

At the moment I am really excited to see people embrace new colours. Customers seem to be choosing warmer neutrals or bright fun colours which is lots of fun to experiment with! I also love choosing luxurious finishes and details such as brass or bronze handles, skirted plinth skiffers and ornate trims to create a really high-end heritage kitchen. One of my favourite kitchen features is a separate pantry

Top tip for designing?

Understanding the kitchen’s function and aesthetic through the customer’s eyes. There are lots of ways to create a kitchen but for it to really work, you must listen to the customer and think about how they will use the space in the years to come. Also recognising when customers need help with certain decisions – some people struggle to visualise what they want and I enjoy helping them see what is possible in the space.

Favourite thing about designing?

That moment when the design pulls together. It can take time to put the finishing touches to the design, but when it clicks into place it’s all worth it!

Favourite kitchen range to design in?

I love our painted solid wood ranges such as Jenson, Vard and Riven. There are lots of cabinetry options at a really good price, as well as the opportunity to use a new colour via the bespoke colour match service.

Something you do in your spare time?

I love to draw and paint, and getting outside into nature to enjoy a walk or potter in the garden.
