We absolutely love seeing your finished kitchens.
Seriously, it makes our day!
If you’re thinking about sharing your new space on social media (please do!).
Here are a few simple tips to help you take a photo that looks totally insta-worthy, so we can shout about it too!
1. Light Is Everything (Trust Us!)
This is the big secret. If the light is good, the photo will be great.
- Ditch the Dingy Yellow: Turn off those harsh overhead lights! They often cast weird shadows. Instead, rely on natural light.
- The Best Time: Wait for a bright time of day. Morning or early afternoon when the sun is out is usually perfect for bright, clear shots.
- Open the Blinds: Maximize every bit of sunlight. Open those curtains and blinds right up!
- Face the Light: Stand with the window behind you. This lets the light flood your cabinets and counter without creating a big dark shadow.
2. Frame It Up Like a Pro
You don’t need a fancy camera – your phone is good enough – you just need a good angle!
- Find Your Fave Bit: What do you love most? The huge island? The freshly organised pantry? Make that feature the main focus, not just a tiny part of the background.
- Keep It Level: This is crucial. Try to hold your phone straight, especially when shooting wide views. If the cupboards look like they’re leaning, the whole photo feels off! Use your camera’s built-in grid lines if you have them.
- Tap to Focus: Before you press the button, tap your screen on the spot you want to be clearest (like the worktop).
3. Tidy Up (Just for a Second!)
We know real life happens, but a little five-minute tidy makes a huge difference in the photo.
- The Counter Clear-Out: Quickly sweep off the mail, random chargers, and cleaning bottles. Stick to just a few cute items—a nice plant, a stylish coffee maker, or a bowl of fruit. Less is always more!
- Close Everything: Make sure all the cupboard doors and drawers are fully closed and lined up.
- Wipe That Smudge! Give the hob, microwave, or any reflective surface a quick wipe. Fingerprints show up much bigger in photos than they do in real life!
4. Little Touches, Big Impact
Once it’s tidy, add a bit of personality!
- Hello, Greenery: Plants instantly make a room feel fresh, inviting, and colourful. A small herb plant or a big leafy one works wonders.
- Make it Feel Loved: Add a styled element, like a stack of favourite cookbooks or a mug of coffee placed on the counter. It makes the space feel usable and cosy!
